Principal Message

Principal Greg Wilson

Dear Lochburn Families,

I am excited to remind each of you that with spring comes big opportunities for our students to shine! It is almost time for student-led conferences and your student is already hard at work preparing! So, what are student-led conferences?

Student Led-Conferences are parent-teacher conferences in which the child is present and in charge of explaining his or her progress. They will have been prepared to reflect on accomplishments, and set short and long-term goals. In the student-led conference format, students and teachers prepare together, and then students lead the conference while teachers facilitate. The parent, student and home room teacher then sit together to review and discuss the work and the student’s progress. The message, once again, is that the students are responsible for their own success. This is the student’s moment to share his or her reflections on achievements and challenges.

So, be sure to get your student-led conference sign-up sheet back to your student’s home room teacher and remember:

1. Students must attend. They must accompany family to this conference.
2. Students will need their AVID binder. It contains their work they have been prepared to show.
3. Parents be prepared to listen and ask questions of your student!

We are looking forward to seeing you at student-led conferences March 13th, 14th and 15th.

Soon after our students finish their student led conference, we will begin our spring MAP testing. This will begin March 25th. This is one more opportunity for our students to show their very best work.

Finally, Spring Break will begin on April 1st. Please encourage your student to read and practice their math during Spring Break so they stay sharp! Remember that at Lochburn it is our mission to ensure all students see themselves as successful in school and are college bound!

Sincerely,
Greg Wilson - Principal
