Parent and Community Involvement

Parent and community engagement is key to student success. All parents, family and community members are invited to be involved in our school. We offer a variety of ways for interested individuals to support our students. Some examples include joining our parent organization, volunteer tutoring, chaperoning field trips, serving as a site council member and helping with school special events. Please contact us at the above number to learn more about getting involved with our school.

School Improvement Plan

The Lochburn Leadership Team will use the seven principles from the Indistar School Improvement process to enhance the learning environment and increase student performance and achievement. Principle #1 - Lochburn will use data for school improvement and instruction. As a Leadership Team we will monitor school-level student learning data, and use the results to adjust and improve instruction. Principal #2 - Lochburn will address safety, discipline, and social, emotional, and physical health. Through the implementation of Safe and Civil Schools all teachers reinforce classroom rules and procedures by positively teaching them. Principle #3 – Enhance family and community engagement. The school’s key documents (Parent Involvement Policy, Mission Statement, Compact, Homework Guidelines, and Classroom Visit Procedures) will be annually distributed and frequently communicated to teachers, school personnel, parents (families), and students. Principle #4 – We will provide expanded time for student learning and teacher collaboration. The school has established a team structure for collaboration among all teachers with specific duties and time for instructional planning called a Professional Learning Community. Time will be provided outside the school day for students to receive extra help on homework and classwork. Principle #5 – Lochburn will keep a focus on staff evaluations and professional development. Professional development will be aligned with identified needs based on staff evaluation and student performance. Principle #6 - Strong leadership. The principal will keep a focus on instructional improvement and student learning outcomes. Principal #7 – Lochburn will provide rigorous and aligned instruction to all our students. Instructional Teams will develop standards-aligned units of instruction for each subject and grade level.
